The Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Daffodil Festival Weekend the last weekend in April. This year’s festivities are Friday – Sunday, April 29th – May 1st. This is the first big weekend 2016 event on the island 30 miles off of Cape Cod. So getting there is key.  Next week The New England Story  will tell you more on where to stay and we will be at the weekend events.

Getting There

Planning your trip to Nantucket is key!   We’ll have more on booking  your accommodations and more. It’s important to book your hotel , Inn + B&B reservations now! This is  a full on island event celebration.  Reserve your flight on Cape Air  or by boat on Hyline Cruises  fast 1 hour passenger boat or  the 2 hour slow ferry which accommodates vehicles.  There are many people that go to the island for Saturday’s festivities so in some cases you may NOT want to bring a vehicle and just stay in town.  The Steamship Authority also offers ferry service to Nantucket.

Many like to come in Friday and stay the weekend.  Saturday’s Antique Car parade in town is a favorite throughout New England. 100 Vintage Cars  line up at 9:30am.  Did we mention everything and everyone is decorated in DAFFY Style!  The Parade starts in town  at 10am and then at noon heads out to lovely ‘Sconset for a tailgating picnic held on the villages lush lawns.

You’ll never know what you will see at DAFFY Days, but one thing is for sure there’s plenty of spirit at this fun community event!

Fashion + Style are key and our friend Holly at The Nantucket BlACKbook will have all the details on the islands events for Daffy Weekend as well as the entire summer.

Other events throughout the weekend include Wine Tastings, Scavenger Hunts, Window Decorating Contest, Dinner at Bartlett’s Farm, Yoga, Book Sale, a children’s parade, a dog parade, Sunday’s 5K race and the 41st Annual Daffodil Show on Sunday from 10:00am to 4pm sponsored by the Nantucket Garden Club. We look forward to bringing you more details soon. Get DAFFY With US! We hope to see you there!
