Whale Watching

Boston’s only 3 hour Whale Watching Cruise. In partnership with the New England Aquarium, BHC presents Boston’s hi-speed catamaran whale watching at its best. Their catamarans provide the fastest, most comfortable way to view the ocean’s most magnificent creatures. This way you spend more time actually watching them.  And, from one of three outside decks for optimal viewing or from cushioned seating inside climate-controlled cabin space, your view is sure to be spectacular.

The destination is Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary, a rich feeding ground for whales, dolphins, sea birds and more. It’s home to several kinds of large whales, including humpbacks finbacks, minkes, pilot whales and the critically endangered right whales.

Boston Harbor Cruises

Salem

Hop aboard at Boston’s Long Wharf, and in less than an hour you’ll be sightseeing, museum hopping, sampling the specialties of local chefs and shopping in Salem’s many quaint boutiques and quirky shops.

Provincetown Ferry

This summer, forget the Cape traffic and parking hassles when you set sail aboard the Provincetown Ferry, Boston’s first, fastest and most luxurious way to travel to Cape Cod.

Nantucket

Enjoy historic and scenic sites on the Provincetown Ferry, while relaxing in the refreshing sea breeze as we whisk you away to the restaurants, beaches, shopping and nightlife unique to Provincetown and the Outer Cape. The Boston to Provincetown ferry is the largest and fastest passenger-only catamaran in the U.S., landing in the heart of Provincetown in just 90 minutes. And with more onboard amenities and services than any other fast ferry in New England, getting there is half the fun.

HISTORY

Matthew “Matty” Hughes claims two important places in history. At the tender age of 16 he became the youngest licensed captain ever in the port of Boston, and in 1926 he founded New England’s premier cruise company, what is today the nation’s largest private operator of passenger vessels, Boston Harbor Cruises (BHC).

Given Matty’s glorious obsession with boats and Boston Harbor, no one was surprised when, soon after obtaining his license, he struck a deal with a local boat owner to operate the M/V Nelly with two full-time employees on a 30-minute cruise of the Charles River at a cost of 10¢. For the next 16 years, area residents, in an attempt to escape the oppressive summer heat in their Boston flats, created a steady stream of seasonal customers for Matty and his cruises.
